James Hey, D.D.S.
Dr. James Hey has been practicing in his birth and boyhood town of Dixon for 25 years. Born at KSB Hospital, he grew up in Dixon Public Schools and now serves on the Dixon Public School District Board of Education. He graduated from Monmouth COllege with a biology major. He is a graduate of Loyola Dental School in Chicago. The completion of Full Mouth Reconstruction Training at the World's Premier Post Graduate Teaching Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, qualifies Dr. Hey as accomplished in the field of cosmetic dentistry.
Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies is the world's finest educational faculty for cosmetic dentistry. Of those thousands of dentist who have attended courses at LVI, only the best graduates are hand selected to be Clinical Instructors. He's been associated with the Las Vegas Institute since 1995, and was handpicked to be one of their original Clinical Instructors on cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry.
"Being part of the Las Vegas Institute has been one of the best things in my career," says Dr. Hey. "It has allowed me to share my knowledge, as well as continue to learn from the many experts involved at the Institute."
He's also teaching himself to better serve his patients, thanks to more than 1,200 hours of continuing education and a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. He's also on staff at KSB Hospital. A charter member of the INternational Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics, Dr. Hey has personally studied with a number of the world's leading authorities in cosmetic dentistry and smile design. Combining his knowledge, technical expertise and artistic abilities he can create smiles customized for patients wanting to look more attractive, younger, more professional or just more confident. He has created thousands of "perfect smiles" for Northern Illinois residents.

Dr. Meghan Crisham
Dr. Meghan Crisham was born and raised in Dixon, Illinois. She attended Newman Central Catholic High School where she was the president of her senior class as well as captain of the tennis and basketball teams. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Arts & Letters Pre-Professional & History. She was involved in various activities at Notre Dame including the Sophomore Literary Festival & Appalachia Service project. She studied abroad in London for a semester during her junior year. Sports have always been a source of enjoyment for Dr. Crisham as she participated in Notre Dame’s Women’s Boxing Club and Notre Dame’s legendary Bookstore Basketball Tournament.
Dr. Crisham is a 2005 graduate of the University of Illinois School of Dentistry. While in dental school, she was a four-year class elected representative to the Chicago Dental Society. During her fourth year, she was awarded with the Stanley Tylman Award for providing dental care of the highest caliber to her patients.
In 2006, she was awarded and completed a one-year post-graduate residency program in Boston, Massachusetts with Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Crisham then relocated to practice dentistry in New York City. Dr. Crisham is married to Dr. Patrick King who is currently a post-graduate Endodontic resident at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry.
Dr. Hey was her family dentist and it was in his office as a patient that Dr. Crisham was able to experience first-hand how multi-faceted dentistry can be. By observing Dr. Hey complete complex restorative and cosmetic cases, Dr. Crisham noted the artistic aspect of dentistry that must go hand in hand with the science.
Dr. Crisham is pleased to be a part of the Exceptional Dentistry Team and looks forward to helping the practice continue to grow. She is impressed by the focus of Dr. Hey and his staff to stay current and knowledgeable about the constant and exciting changes and advances in dentistry.

Shauna has been assisting Dr. Hey for 10 years. Everyday is rewarding helping patients feel comfortable at the dental office & seeing how Dr.’s transformation helps to build their self confidence. She’s a country girl that’s always on the go. When not working she enjoys spending time with family, friends & playing with her Akitas.

Patty, Office Manager
Patty started her dental career after attending Dental Lab Technology at SIU-Carbondale. She has been working with Dr. Hey since 1978, and has worked her way up to office manager. She has personal experience with veneers and loves them! When not at work, Patty enjoys gardening and spending time her husband Mike and their daughters Mary and Katie.
The Farm Girl
Aby, Dental Hygienist
Aby has been with Dr. Hey for since 2001, relocating to Northwest Illinois after a number of years working in Chicago and Europe for restorative and periodontal practices. In 2002, Aby bought a farm, and enjoys riding her horses and caring for her property. She is also excited about the new advances in periodontal treatment, and is proud to offer these treatments to Dr Hey’s patients.

Katie, Dental Assistant
Katie has been a dental assistant for three years and has recently joined the team at Exceptional Dentistry. Katie enjoys spending time with her daughter Makaley, friends and family. Katie enjoys snowmobiling in Northern Wisconsin, motorcycle rides, and deer hunting with her dad. Katie is really excited to be a part of the Exceptional Dentistry Team, and learning the latest technology.

Melinda, Dental Hygienist
Melinda graduated from SIU-Carbondale with an AAS in dental hygiene in 1992. Melinda joined Dr. Hey’s team in Spring 2002. Melinda enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and their children, Trenton and Madeline. Trenton is active in baseball and Jr. Tackle football. Madeline is the soccer and softball player. Her family also enjoys golfing and swimming in their pool. Melinda would love to further her dental knowledge with a seminar in the Caribbean!
